As you walk through your house inspect each and every room as if you were a buyer. . . What stands out? As you walk through note all problems. Your check should include the following areas:
Floors: Are the base boards in good shape? Any missing tiles? Is vinyl curling at the seams? Check the stairs for loose hand rails. Walls and Ceilings: Is paint or wall paper in good shape? Do holes or cracks need repair? Doors and Windows: Do the open smoothly? Do they shut completely? Are there any loose hinges? Are the windows caulked? Are any window panes broken or cracked? (You can actually clean and check in one process.) Inspect Bathrooms: Are the tiles clean & caulked? Are any tiles missing? Do faucets leak? Does the toilet flush properly? Check the water pressure, make sure water drains properly, check under the sink for leaks. Kitchen: Check all appliances for missing or broken parts? Do they work? Is the floor clean and free of missing tiles or curling vinyl? What about the cabinets, paint, or wallpaper? Does the sink drain properly? Examine Basement or Attic: Clean out clutter (stored stuff, boxes and bags.) Check pipes for leaks and signs of dampness. Electrical System: Any outlets not working? Any broken switches? Heating and Cooling System: Replace dirty air filters. Clean and repair as necessary. Check roof, gutters, exterior walls, driveway, garage, and yard.
